After Sonia Gandhi's pet Food Security Bill could not be passed in the budget session of parliament, the Congress Friday said the issue should become part of a national debate.
"Corruption is a challenge but the Food Security Bill also warrants similar attention," Congress spokesperson Bhakta Charan Das told reporters.
"It has been neglected. This should be addressed," he said.
Das, an MP from Kalahandi, one of the poorest districts in Odisha, said that around three lakh newborn children were dying in the country due to malnutrition and the issue could be addressed through a food security legislation.
"We wanted to pass the bill but could not as the BJP disrupted the house," he said.
