The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday launched the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) to create a "totally error-free and authenticated electoral roll".
During the programme, the data of voters will be linked with Aadhar for the purpose of authentication.
The NERPAP will focus on improving the image quality of electors (by borrowing better photos from the UIDAI database) along with sorting out issues like rectifying errors, an official statement said.
Electors have been provided the facility to feed their respective Aadhar number through sms, e-mail, mobile application and National Voters Service Portal (NVSP), using web services through the election commission website, it said.
Electors can also feed the Aadhar number by making a call at 1950 to state call centres or by submitting the details of the Aadhar number and Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number in a duly filled up form along with photocopies of both the EPIC and Aadhar cards.

Besides, the collection and feeding of Aadhar will also be done by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) by organising special camps, voter facilitation centres, e-seva centres and citizen service centres, it added.
