A man in Afghan military uniform Sunday shot dead one NATO soldier in eastern Afghanistan, Xinhua reported citing a statement by the coalition forces.
"An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service member was killed today when an individual wearing an ANSF (Afghan National Security Forces) uniform shot the ISAF service member in eastern Afghanistan," the NATO-led ISAF said in a statement.
"(The) ISAF and ANSF have secured the scene. ISAF and ANSF forces are conducting an investigation, and more details will be released as appropriate," it noted.
If the attacker is confirmed to be a member of the ANSF, the incident will be the latest in the so-called "green on blue" insider attack when the Afghan army or police turned their weapons against their foreign partners.
With Sunday's casualty, up to 14 foreign soldiers had been killed in 10 "green on blue" attacks since January.
The statement did not disclose the nationality of the victim under according to ISAF policy. More than 87,000 NATO-led troops are stationed in Afghanistan.
As many as 140 NATO soldiers had been killed in the war-torn country so far this year.
