AIADMK Deputy General Secretary T.T.V. Dinakaran on Tuesday said that it was natural for the "enemies" of the AIADMK to try and destabilise the party and the government, but "we will" do everything to protect the government.
"In politics, our enemies will try to destabilise our party and the government. It is natural, but we will protect the government," he told reporters after meeting his aunt and party General Secretary Sasikala, who is in jail here after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case.
Dinakaran, who is himself out on bail in a case of allegedly bribing Election Commission officials, was replying to a question whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government was involved in any political conspiracy against the AIADMK government and himself personally.
He said he had no political discussion with Sasikala. "I came here with my family to meet my aunt," he said.
Meanwhile, senior AIADMK leader M. Thambidurai said there was no split in the paty and that it was united. An image of disunity was sought to be created by DMK leader M.K. Stalin, he claimed.
