If you litter in the NDMC area here, you may get a flower from school children.

As part of measures to combat dirt, students from New Delhi Municipal Council schools presented flowers Sunday morning to those found littering in Connaught Place, the commercial hub of the capital.

NDMC chairman Jalaj Shrivastava said in a statement that school students also took out rallies to spread the message of cleanliness.

The NDMC, the smallest of three civic agencies in the capital, has also named Santosh Yadav, who twice scaled the Everest, as its Brand Ambassador for the "Swatch Bharat Abhiyan" campaign.

Yadav said in a letter to the Council that she would be happy to be part of "this noble cause".

Shrivastava said that though the NDMC was making every effort to clean up its zone, much was expected from the residents too.

NDMC has created a Facebook page -- "Ho, Ho, Shame Shame" -- and asked citizens to post photographs of those dirtying, littering or urinating at public places.
