The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party-BJP alliance would ensure good governance and draw a new roadmap for development of Nagaland under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development agenda, former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said on Monday.
Addressing a meeting of the NDPP leaders at the party's headquarters, Rio appreciated Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah for agreeing to have a seat sharing alliance between with the NDPP for the February 27 assembly elections.
The three-time former Chief Minister promised that the newly-floated NDPP fully supports the peace process and political negotiations between various Naga separatist groups and the Indian government and committed that the NDPP would not come in the way for any political solution.
He also appealed to all the party leaders to carry out a responsible and mature campaign and not make personalized attacks and refrain from unparliamentarily conduct.
Noting that NDPP would carry the voice and aspirations of the masses, NDPP Secretary General Abu Metha promised that in partnership with the central government under Prime Minister Modi, the alliance will provide political stability and development.
