The Nepal government on Monday asked all its officials to be cautious while using social media sites and not post opinions which may have negative impact on social harmony in the country.
The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), through an official circular, urged government officials to be vigilant while using social media like Facebook, Twitter and Blog, Xinhua news agency reported citing a press release.
"Government officials are urged not to Like, Share, Tag, Retweet any such content that could disrupt social harmony," the circular said.
The caution comes in the wake of protests, strikes and demonstrations across the country against the number and delineation of federal provinces in the proposed new constitution.
OPMCM was of view that the social media contents like opinion posts, cartoons, photos and graphics can have negative impact on peace and security of the country.
