Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has said the government will allocate new houses to families whose dwellings were destroyed in the recent floods, a media report said Wednesday.
"Homes have been almost entirely destroyed, people have lost their furniture, clothes, cars, everything electronic or electric," Najib said.
"Once we learn the extent of the damage, we can see what needs to be done," The Star quoted him as saying.
He said the government would also ensure all damaged schools, mosques and roads were repaired.
The floods hit the country Dec 16.
The states, which got worst affected include Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor and Perak.
