New Zealand 24/1, trail India by 222 runs

New Zealand were 24 for one in their second innings and trailed India's first innings score of 438 all out by 222 runs at the end of day two in the second and final Test at the Basin Reserve here Saturday.

Ajinkya Rahane's maiden Test hundred put India in the driving seat giving them a first innings lead of 246 runs. Rahane was well supported by Shikhar Dhawan (98), who missed out on his third hundred, and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (68).

In New Zealand's second innings, Zaheer Khan dismissed Peter Fulton (1) in the second over to immediately put the hosts on the backfoot.

 

Hamish Rutherford (18 batting) and Kane Williamson (4 batting) were the two unbeaten batsmen at stumps.
