New Zealand declare at 680/8

New Zealand have set India a target of 435 runs after declaring at 680/8 in the first session of the fifth day of the second and final Test match at the Basin Reserve here Tuesday.

Black Caps skipper Brendon McCullum became the highest Test scorer for his country scoring 302, surpassing legendary Martin Crowe's 299 while New Zealand put up their highest ever Test total on the board, outscoring their previous best of 671/4 against Sri Lanka in 1991.

Debutant all-rounder Jimmy Neesham scored a century on debut, finishing at 137 not out.

Indian pacer Zaheer Khan notched up the 11th fifth-wicket haul of his career.
