Nicky Minaj, Mariah Carey quit 'American Idol'

Singers Nicky Minaj and Mariah Carey have quit as judges of TV show "American Idol".

Carey, 43, has quit the show in order to undertake a world tour following the success of her latest single "Beautiful" and Minaj, 30, also wants to focus on her music and confirmed her first season on the show will also be her last, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Carey retweeted a message from her PR representatives, which read: "W/ global success of "#Beautiful" @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol http://mariahcarey.com."

Minaj too took to Twitter to make the announcement. She tweeted: "Thank you 'American Idol' for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music! Mmmuuuaahhh!"

 

Along with the tour, Carey has a number of other projects this year.

"The rest of this year is jam-packed with Carey putting the finishing touches on her much anticipated forthcoming album, headlining the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular and appearing in Lee Daniels's 'The Butler', opening in August," her representative told People magazine.
