Nigerian football authorities on Wednesday confirmed a ban has been placed on national team coach Salisu Yusuf over a recent bribery allegation against him.
Yusuf, who was banned from all football-related activities for one year with immediate effect, has also been directed to pay the sum of $5,000 as a fine to the Nigerian Football Federation within three months, reports Xinhua news agency.
The local football governing body said the top football coach was subjected to questioning which gave him the opportunity to counter the allegation against him.
Yusuf, who was one of the most liked men in Nigerian football, is yet to speak on the ban.
