Nigeria defeated Mali 2-0 in the final of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
With the victory, Nigeria obtained their fifth crown in the U-17 category on Sunday at the Sausalito Stadium here, reports Xinhua.
The game began with an early penalty against Mali in the second minute, but Nigerian Osinachi Ebere failed to convert the shot and Malian goalkeeper Samuel Diarra stopped the ball.
After that both teams did not want to take risks, so there were few scoring opportunities in the first half.
In the second half, the Nigerians stepped up the pressure and Victor Osimhen scored the first goal in the 56th minute. It was his tenth goal in the tournament and he was crowned the top scorer.
Funsho Bamgboye made it 2-0 for Nigeria three minutes later.
Earlier in the third place playoff, Belgium beat Mexico 3-2 to finish third.
