Nigeria is aiming for at least three medals in athletics at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, a top official with the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) said.
The federation was working hard to ensure that the athletes of the country would post a satisfactory performance in Rio, AFN's technical manager Yusuf Alli told reporters on Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
"Our target is nothing less than three medals. We hope to have a good performance," said Alli.
The 2016 Olympic Games is scheduled for August 5 to 21 in Rio de Janeiro.
Alli, a gold medallist at the 1990 Commonwealth Games (CWG) in New Zealand, said Nigeria hoped to do better at the 2016 Africa Championships.
"We hope to repeat or surpass the record that we had in 2014. Although our main focus is on the Olympics, we are not undermining the African Championships either," he added.
