Seven people, including a New Delhi-based Nigerian, were arrested while smuggling five kg of heroin, cash and foreign currency, police in Punjab's Jalandhar said on Saturday.

"We got a tip that the smugglers were carrying drugs from Jammu and Kashmir to New Delhi. We set up nakas (check-points) to apprehend them," Sidhu said.

Police apprehended the smugglers from three locations. Three cars were also impounded following their arrest.

The Nigerian national, Eze, and a physically challenged person, Rakesh Chander Gogna, were among those arrested.

In another incident, railway police arrested two people from the Ludhiana railway station and recovered Rs.40 lakh in cash from them.
