A Nigeria national was arrested on Thursday from Kolkata on the charge of kidnapping a woman from Rwanda for ransom, Delhi Police said.
Ifeanyi Samuel was arrested from Jadavpur district and was being taken to Delhi on a four-day transit remand, a police officer said.
Delhi Police have launched an investigation into the case after the Rwandan embassy filed a case on Tuesday at Hauz Khas police station in south Delhi.
The complaint said the woman had called her fiance in the US and told him that she has been kept in Kolkata by kidnappers.
"The victim's fiance in turn informed the Rwandan embassy in Delhi," the officer said, adding that separate teams were sent to Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru in search of the woman.
