A 29-year-old Nigerian national was arrested here after 2.5 kg heroin worth Rs.2.50 crore in the international market was recovered from his possession, police said Wednesday.

Stanley Bright was arrested Tuesday from west Delhi's Uttam Nagar, where he was staying in a rented house.

"Three cartons were recovered from his possession containing ladies sandals, shoes, auto parts and baby carrying bags. The recovered heroin was concealed in the cavities of these items," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ashok Chand.

Bright came to India in February, 2013 on a business visa and after expiry of his visa did not return to his country.

"Earlier, he was in garments business. Around a year back, he came in contact with a Nigerian, who introduced him into drug trafficking to earn more money," said the official.

Chand said Bright procured heroin from this Nigerian and sent it to his native country by concealing it in cavities of legitimate products.

"He sent the consignments through courier companies," Chand added.
