Nigerian Army has captured a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber in the northeastern state of Gombe, who rammed into a military check point, a military officer said Wednesday.
National spokesperson of the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, Chris Olukolade, told Xinhua the terrorist failed to achieve his mission as he was brought down by vigilant soldiers when he tried to flee after hitting a military amoured personnel carrier with his explosives laden car.
The military spokesperson added that the explosives which failed to detonate have been evacuated and handed to the police.
The latest incident happened barely 48 hours after at least 20 persons died in an explosion which rocked a bus station in the outskirts of the state.
The explosion occurred at a motor park in Gombe, which shares a border with Yobe and Borno states, stronghold of Boko Haram.
