Night-landing facility at Rajahmundry airport by month-end

Night-landing facility at Rajahmundry airport in Andhra Pradesh will be available by March-end, it was announced here on Wednesday.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asked officials to focus on strengthening the existing infrastructure of airports, increasing air-traffic and suggested them to improve frequency of flights to Eastern countries from the state, especially from Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.

Ahead of the launch of infrastructure mission in Visakhapatnam on March 13, he held a review meeting on the status of infrastructure and investments, said a statement from the Chief Minister's Office.

Naidu also suggested that multi-mode transportation be incorporated into the state's tourism policy where travellers can choose their mode of transportation for a particular tourism package in the state.

 

He asked officials to explore feasibility for cruises, sea planes, yachting and water sports such as yachting, sailing and snorkelling.

On ports development, he asked officials to work on ways to improve cargo to bring it to the second position in the country after Gujarat.

The chief minister asked officials to study the feasibility and finalise on locations for six universities - Water University, Logistics University, Sports University, Aqua University, Energy University and Hospitality University.

He was briefed on the development of mega convention centres in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati.
