Car maker Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd on Wednesday said it sold 4,346 units last month.
In a statement, the company said it sold 4,346 units in the Indian market last month -- up from 2,668 units sold the same month a year ago.
The company's two brands - Nissan and Datsun - together recorded 63 percent year-on-year growth.
"We have started the New Year on a positive note. Despite the challenging market conditions, we have seen a substantial year-on-year growth in January which signifies strong customers' response and trust in the Nissan and Datsun brands," Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, was quoted as saying.
Reacting to the Union Budget presented in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Guillaume Sicard, President Nissan India Operations, said the income tax rate cut by five per cent to five per cent for individual tax payers earning under Rs.500,000 will create positive sentiment among first-time small-car buyers.
