Asserting that there were no specific instructions from the central government on the Rohingya refugees, the BSF on Wednesday said there were no new cases of their infiltration into India this year.

"We have alerted our troops and mobilised resources on the entire 4,096-km India-Bangladesh border. We have faced no infiltration problem so far this year," BSF Additional Director General (Eastern Command) R.P. Singh said on the sidelines of an event here.

The officer said the Centre had not given any specific instructions vis-a-vis the Rohingyas.

"Being a border guarding force, it is our duty to prevent infiltration. There has been no specific instructions from the Centre about the Rohingyas," Singh said.

"For us, infiltrators are just infiltrators. So, whether they are Rohingyas or Bangladeshis, if they do not have a valid passport, it does not make any difference," he added.

The BSF officer said there were no fresh arrests of illegal migrants after the Rohingya influx into Bangladesh.

The United Nations last week said that over 4 lakh Rohingyas had fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar since August 25.

"We have fully sealed the border and redeployed our assets. After the recent cases of the Rohingyas moving to Bangladesh, the BSF has not apprehended anybody. However, the Rohingyas have been apprehended in previous years."
