There was no Modi wave but only a BJP wave, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi has said.

"Modi is a representative of the BJP as its prime ministerial candidate. He gets support from the party and its leaders across the country," Joshi told Malayala Manorama TV channel when asked if there was a wave in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Joshi said the Gujarat model would not be implemented as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) model if the BJP-led NDA wins the Lok Sabha election.

He also said the decision to deny ticket to now former BJP leader Jaswant Singh from Barmer constituency in Rajasthan was not a collective one.

"The decision ... did not come for the discussion," said Joshi, adding the matter could have been handled differently.

Upset at being denied a ticket, Jaswant Singh had filed his nomination as an independent. He was subsequently expelled from the party.
