In a move aimed at promoting women's empowerment, the Jharkhand government on Wednesday decided to waive registry charges on property registered in the name of women.
"For any immovable property purchased in the name of a woman, no registration and stamp fee will be charged. Only Re 1 token stamp money will be taken," said an official press release.
The decision was taken at a Land and Revenue Department review meeting in Ranchi.
The meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister Raghubar Das, also decided to digitise all the maps of state.
The Land and Revenue Department informed the meeting that online registry system had become fully functional across the state.
