The RSS will have no role in the formation of the union cabinet, BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu and RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said Sunday.

Asked about the role the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) would play in the formation of the government, Naidu said: "The question does not arise. The Sangh never interferes in such matters."

"We are swayamsevaks. We come here to the Sangh headquarters to meet our seniors. That is part of our life. There is nothing big about it. This is a task of the BJP, and its leadership is competent enough to take its decisions after consultations among themselves," he said after a meeting with RSS leaders at the organisation's office here.

Ram Madhav echoed the Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

"The Sangh has not given any guidelines to the BJP, nor to Modi-ji... the RSS never keeps any remote control to perform any role in politics and government," Ram Madhav said on the sidelines of a function in Jaipur.

He said a similar question was asked to Atal Bihari Vajpayee as well, when he became prime minister.

"The same question was posed to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to which the former prime minister said he himself was a direct remote control," he said.

"The Sangh's work is accomplished, and it will go back to its basic service of nation and society building, character and personality development," the RSS leader added.

In the Lok Sabha poll, the RSS played the role of motivating voters and did a great deal of ground work for the BJP.

Several BJP leaders Sunday swarmed the RSS office in Delhi.

Besides Naidu, Kalraj Mishra, Dharmendra Pradhan, Gopinath Munde, Harsh Vardhan and Rajiv Pratap Rudy were among other leaders who visited the RSS office here.
