North Korea has fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) in eastern waters, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said on Saturday.
The official told Xinhua on the phone that the projectile, estimated to have been a missile launched from a North Korea submarine, was fired at about 6.30 p.m. in waters off South Hamgyong province.
The official declined to elaborate on whether the SLBM launch had succeeded, saying the military was closely monitoring the move of Pyongyang forces for further provocations.
