TV personality Kris Jenner says her socialite daughter Kim Kardashian and rapper-boyfriend Kanye West jointly came to a decision about their newborn daughter's name, North West.

Kris, who is Kim's mother, insists the couple chose the name to give their first child the directional moniker, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"I think it was a joint decision. They did it together ... I stayed out of that one," Jenner told huffingtonpost.com.

Kim gave birth to the baby girl with West June 15.

Kris loves her granddaughter's unique name.

"North is the highest power. And their baby North, their little girl, is the highest point and power between the two of them. So I thought that was really cool," she said.

"When a baby's born and you give it a name and you're really sure about it ... that's just going to be that baby's energy. So I'm excited," added the 57-year-old.
