Demanding an anti-racism law, hundreds of students from the country's northeastern states held a protest here Thursday.
The students held protest at Jantar Mantar over the killing of 19-year-old Nido Tania, who died Jan 30 after he was beaten up by shopkeepers in a south Delhi market following a quarrel over his appearance and clothing.
The victim's friends say it was a racial attack.
"We have been given enough assurances, but hardly any strong action has been taken in the entire matter," said a student, adding that the political leaders' visit was just to sympathise and not to take action against Tania's attackers.
A delegation of parliamentarians from the northeast also met the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and demanded a anti-racism law in the country.
