After Prime Minister Narendra Modi dubbed his attack on RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and top finance ministry officials as a "publicity stunt", BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday said he is not behind publicity but "publicity relentlessly seeks a politician".

"PTs: New problem: when publicity relentlessly seeks a politician. 30 OVs outside the house, 200 missed calls from channels and paparazzis?" Swamy tweeted.

Swamy's remarks came after Modi on Monday in his interview to TimesNow news channel backed Rajan solidly, in the wake of Swamy's persistent attacks on the Reserve Bank Governor.

Modi, in reference to Swamy's attacks on Rajan, said: "Whether it is someone from my party or not, I believe such things are inappropriate. The nation won't benefit from such publicity stunts. One should be more responsible while conducting themselves. Anyone who believes he is bigger than the system is wrong."
