The number of jobseekers in France rose by 39,800 in April to a new record of over 3.264 million, official data showed.
According to the labour ministry's monthly data, the rise represented a 1.2-percent increase over March and a 12.5-percent increase year on year, reported Xinhua.
"This negative trend will extend into the next few months before we would, via the mobilization of all the tools, to reverse the unemployment curve at the end of the year," the ministry said Thursday.
