A nurse was found dead in the staff quarters of a city hospital here, police said Sunday.

Nirmala, 45, who was working with the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital since 1994, was found drowned in a tub of water in the bathroom of her second-floor residence here Saturday night.

Her body was found without clothes. Police said they were informed by the woman's brother, Anand, who came here to inquire about her when he failed to contact her over the phone.

Every Saturday, Nirmala would visit her mother in Sonipat in Haryana. When she did not reach there and also failed to answer Anand's calls, he rushed to her residence here only to find her dead.

Nirmala, who separated from her husband 10-years ago due to some family issue, lived alone in room number 108 of the hospital's staff quarters.

Police said they have registered a case of murder, and are also investigating other angles, including robbery.

The CCTV cameras installed at the buildings entry gate and other places are being scrutinized along with the visitor register to know about the person who met her Friday and Saturday.

The police did not rule out the involvement of a known person because unknown people are not allowed to enter the staff quarters.

Like Nirmala, a 54-year-old nurse in-charge Versha Verma was also found killed inside her room in the servant quarters of the hospital in August 2013. The police have yet to make any progress in the case.
