US President Barack Obama will host Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on April 14, the White House said on Monday.
"The prime minister's visit underscores the strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq and the strong US commitment to political and military cooperation with Iraq in the joint fight against ISIL," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a statement, referring to the extremist group also known as the Islamic State (IS).
Obama and al-Abadi would discuss a range of issues at the White House, including continued US support to Iraq to degrade and ultimately destroy the IS and the promotion of a broad partnership between the two countries, Xinhua news agency cited Earnest as saying.
The two leaders would also discuss the Iraqi government's actions to address the needs of the Iraqi people and strengthen cooperation between all communities in the Middle Eastern nation, he added.
