Odisha-born Jitendra Mishra, who co-produced award winning film "I am Kalam", has inked a worldwide sales and distribution deal with veteran Hindi filmmaker and writer Sagar Sarhadi for his film "Chausar".

"Chausar" was produced in 2004. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, it couldn't reach to masses, Mishra said.

"I have inked a deal with Sagar Sarhadi to showcase this untold story in front of the world audience. We will convert the film digitally and release it worldwide by the end of this year. We're looking for likeminded partners who can support to release this film," Mishra, a native of Odisha's Titilagarh town, about 400 kms from here, told IANS in an interview.

"Chausar" is not just another tale of men exploiting women. It's a bold attempt to unveil the reality of women in our society.

The movie's story revolves around Jashoda, a beautiful girl, interwoven with her father's verdict, husband's plight and arbiter's decision. The movie, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amruta Subhash, was shot in a small village in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Veteran poet Nida Fazli had penned the lyrics for the movie, while Sudeep Banerjee is credited with its music.

Mishra, founder of Delhi-based Flair Communication, a movie production house which also deals with film marketing, promotion and distribution, feels "Chausar" has the potential to be a pathbreaking woman-oriented film.

"Indian women have always been an example of sacrifice. In ancient and medieval times, women were not even considered as human beings in the male dominant society. It is peak time for women all over India to protest against these cruel practices," he said.

"Sagar Sarhadi saheb, who is known for never compromising on his skills for money, had tried to convey this serious message to all through 'Chausar' in a light way with great music and screenplay. Everybody should watch this film," added Mishra.

Sagar Sarhadi began his remarkable journey as a scriptwriter with Yash Chopra's "Kabhi Kabhie" and "Silsila", both starring Amitabh Bachchan.

He also wrote the dialogues for "Chandni", "Deewana", "Faasle", "Karobaar" and "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai".

As a director, Sarhadi worked on the critically acclaimed "Bazaar" as well as films like "Lorie", "Tere Shahar Mein" and "Chausar", Mishra said.
