The Odisha government has generated employment opportunities for 9.31 lakh youth through small and micro enterprises in the state, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister Jogendra Behera announced on Thursday.
Replying to a written question in the assembly by BJD's Sanjeeb Kumar Sahu, the minister informed that a total of 9,31,779 people have been provided employment and self-employment opportunities through small and micro enterprises by October 2015.
He said 187,445 units have invested Rs.915,224.83 lakh across the state to provide employment to the youths in the state.
The minister said the government was providing skill development training while organising road shows across the state to sensitise the people for the development medium, small and micro industries.
He said the government has launched several schemes, including Industrial Policy Resolution, MSME Development Policy and Youth Innovation Fund, which provide various incentives and exempt tax to set up the units.
