The flood situation continued to remain grim in parts of Odisha with the toll reaching 45 Sunday, an official said.
Six more deaths were reported in the state, a senior revenue department official told IANS.
Although the flood situation improved in most districts with the water level in all the rivers falling below the danger level, nearly half a million people of about 460 villages were still marooned.
It may take a few more days for the water to recede, the official added.
The floods triggered by heavy rains this month have hit nearly 3.5 million people in 23 of the state's 30 districts, he said.
The number of livestock killed in the floods stands at 97 while crops have been damaged over 3.2 million hectares, he said.
More than a million flood victims continue to live in 168 relief camps as their houses were either damaged or remain inundated. The floods have damaged about 30,000 houses, he added.
