Odisha's plan expenditure increases 21%

Odisha's plan expenditure during financial year 2016-17 has increased around 21 per cent to touch Rs 24,408.50 crore by November as against Rs 20,228 crore last year, said an official on Tuesday.

This was revealed from the fiscal performance review of the state taken by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi here.

The expenditure in the agricultural sector has been around Rs 6,227 crore which is more than 56 per cent of the budget estimate, said the official.

The infrastructure spending has crossed Rs 6,706 crore which is around 59 per cent of the budgeted amount. Similarly, the social sector spending up to November has been to the tune of Rs 10,227 crore which is around 55 per cent of the total estimate for the financial year.

 

The total collection from both the tax and non-tax sources has been around Rs 17,896 crore up to November against the total collection of Rs 17,967 crore during the last corresponding period.

The collection from own tax revenue up to November has been around Rs 13,597 crore against Rs 13,519 crore during the same period of last financial year, said the official.

The collection from non-tax sources has been around Rs 4,300 crore, said the official.

There has been an increase in collection of revenue from the tax on vehicles, goods and passengers, electricity duty, professional tax, excise, other taxes and duties.
