Heat wave condition continued to prevail over several parts of Odisha even as the Met Office on Thursday forecast rain and thunderstorm.

According to the Met Department, Odisha is likely to witness rainfall and thunderstorm under the impact of a low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal.

"The low pressure area has been formed over the south east Bay of Bengal and the adjoining area of its central part with associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level," the Met Office said.

The system is likely to be more intensified over the east central Bay of Bengal.

The highest maximum temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius was recorded at Bhawanipatna and Bolangir.

The office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) said 10 people have died due to sunstroke so far.

While it has received reports of 73 deaths allegedly due to sunstroke, the inquiry of 26 has been completed and 10 cases have been confirmed as heatstroke deaths, said the SRC office.
