A senior official was injured in a roadside landmine blast in southern Somalia, military officials said on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner of Gedo region Mohamed Hussein's car was hit by the roadside bomb, Xinhua quoted the military commander of the region as saying.
"The deputy commissioner and his bodyguard were seriously wounded while heading to a meeting," he said.
"We heard heavy blast this morning in the town of Bardera. Government forces blocked the road leading to the site," said an eyewitness.
Bardera town of Gedo region, which was captured by Somalian troops and AU Mission to Somalia personnel in July 2015 has witnessed occasional attacks by Somali militant group Al-Shabaab.
