Madrid, May 10 (IANS/EFE) The drummer for the popular 1980s band Ole-Ole, Juan Tarodo, has died of leukemia, Spain's SGAE composers and music publishers association said Thursday. He was 52.

The musician, songwriter and producer passed away Wednesday in Madrid.

Tarodo, who shifted his focus to producing after the group broke up in 1993, had been forced to step away from the music scene because of his illness, SGAE said.

Ole-Ole was popular for hits such as "No controles", "Voy a mil" and "Conspiracion".

As a producer, Tarodo worked with Pedro Marin, Jose Luciano, Anibal Berraute, Jose Luis Rodriguez "El Puma" and Juan Gabriel, among others.
