Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Monday donated blood after Eid prayers, maintaining that blood donation on an auspicious occasion like Eid-ul-Azha is important to seek munificence of god.

Offering Eid prayers at the Hazratbal shrine among thousands of other Muslims, he prayed for wellbeing of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the country.

Abdullah appealed to the people to remember flood-affected families on the occasion of Eid and extend all support to them, describing it as the real essence of the holy event.

Later, he donated blood at the blood donation camp at SMHS hospital here, and asked people to follow suit to save precious lives. "Donation of blood on Eid is all the more important to seek munificence of Almighty Allah," he said.
