Making the journey by state transport buses "sweeter" by giving toffees to passengers instead of loose change will no longer be allowed.

Haryana's Transport Minister Karan Dev Kamboj Tuesday said that conductors of Haryana Roadways buses would not be allowed to give toffees to passengers in lieu of their balance amount of Re.1 or Rs.2.

"Strict action would be taken against those conductors who would not abide by these instructions," Kamboj said while issuing instructions in this regard.

"It has been observed that conductors of Haryana transport department give toffees to passengers in return of their balance of Re.1 or Rs.2. The solution for loose change would soon be found out," he said, adding that complaints were being received regarding conductors giving toffees in lieu of the balance amount.

"For majority of the population that travels on buses, the value of Re.1 or Rs.2 is important. Directions have been issued to immediately stop on this practice in roadways buses," Kamboj said.

Regarding complaints that bus drivers stop their buses at private restaurants and hotels, where the passengers have to eat whatever is being offered, the minister directed that bus drivers will stop their buses only at government tourist complexes.
