One killed, 50 shanties gutted in Lucknow blaze

One person was burnt alive and more than 50 shanties gutted in a massive fire in Lucknow's Alambagh area, police said on Monday.

A few women and children sustained minor burn injuries in the blaze in the slum behind the railway station.

It took more than four hours for fire tenders to extinguish the fire, an official said.

Lucknow Chief Fire Officer Abhaybhan Pandey said the deceased, Sattan Soni, was a rickshaw-puller.
