At least one person was killed and three went missing Monday after powerful typhoon Phanfone hit Japan.
Phanfone has brought heavy rain and strong winds across the country, Kyodo News reported.
Phanfone moved from Hamamatsu city in Shizuoka prefecture towards Tokyo, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The typhoon is expected to weaken by the evening, the agency said.
Meanwhile, three US military personnel were swept away by high waves in Okinawa. One was later confirmed dead while the other two are missing, police said.
A 21-year-old man from Tokyo also went missing while surfing off Shonan beach in Kanagawa prefecture. Twelve other people were reported to be injured.
