One killed in Kuala Lumpur blast

At least one person was killed in a grenade attack in Kuala Lumpur Thursday.

"Tiong Kwang Yie, 36, a radio jockey succumbed to injuries in the intensive care unit at a hospital here following the 4.25 a.m. blast" city CID chief Gan Kong Meng was cited as saying by thestar.com.

Tiong, from Sibu, Sarawak, was among the 14 people injured who were rushed to the hospital after the attack at the Sun Complex in Jalan Bukit Bintang Thursday.

Police have ruled out an Islamic State (IS) hand in the explosion.

"The blast was not connected to IS militants, but could be due to misunderstanding or an act of revenge," thestar.com reported quoting Deputy Chief Assistant Commissioner Khairy Ahrasa.

 

Among the injured in the blast are two Chinese nationals, two Singaporeans and a Thai. All the victims have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
