A passenger was killed and three people, including the pilot, were injured Sunday when a small plane crashed in Russia's Yakutia region, authorities said.

The Yakovlev Yak-52 aircraft went down some 10 km from Tommot, Aldan district, during a training flight, killing the passenger and wounding the pilot, Xinhua reported citing the emergency situations ministry.

Two people on the ground were also injured.

A probe into the crash is underway.

The Yak-52 first flew in 1976, and was originally designed as an aerobatic trainer for both civilian sport and military pilots.
