A 14-year-old boy was killed and his 12-year-old brother suffered critical injuries after a speeding Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus hit them here Friday evening, police said. The accused driver has been arrested.

The incident occurred around 4.30 p.m. near Radisson Hotel in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area from where the bus, plying between Gurgaon in Haryana and east Delhi's Anand Vihar, was passing.

"The children are rag pickers. They were collecting garbage when the DTC bus hit them," said a police official.

Both victims were rushed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where Tinku was declared dead while Sonu is still battling for life, the official added.

The errant bus driver Ashutosh, in his 30s, was caught by people and later handed over to police, who booked him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections of rash and negligent driving.
