One security personnel was killed and 14 others were injured Monday when Maoists set off landmines in Jharkhand's Giridih district, police said. Meanwhile, the forces freed four people who had been abducted Saturday.
The attack took place near Dholkatta village situated in the Parasnath hill of Giridih district, around 300 km from the state capital Ranchi.
At the time of the attack, the security forces were conducting an operation to free four people abducted by Maoists Saturday, a police official told IANS.
Maoist triggered a series of 15 landmine blasts that killed one security person and injured 14 others.
Those hurt were airlifted and admitted to a Ranchi hospital. Five of the injured personnel were said to be in a serious condition.
