Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday accused the opposition of running a motivated campaign against union minister V K Singh over his comments on the death of two Dalit children in Haryana.

"There was nothing against any caste or individual in the minister's (Singh) comments," Naidu told reporters outside parliament.

He accused the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party of playing what he said was competitive caste politics.

He also took exception to objections raised in the Rajya Sabha on the very presence of V.K. Singh, the former army chief, in the house.

"Gen Singh has every right to attend parliament... Such a campaign is injustice to him," Naidu said.

Asked to comment on the burning of two Dalit children in a Haryana village, Gen. Singh had said that even if a stone was thrown at a dog, the central government was held responsible.
