Shillong Lajong Football Club has boosted their forward line by retaining Brazilian striker Uilliams Souza and recruiting Nigerian talismanic midfielder Penn Orji.

They have again roped in their former captain, North Korean defender Minchol Son, who was instrumental for the club's sixth place finishing in the last edition of the I-League by being the team's commander at the heart of defence.

Orji has been hugely successful in his playing career in India, last playing for Indian Super League finalist Kerala Blasters.

The 23-year-old has been playing in India for the past five years with Kolkata giants East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting having previously played for JCT.

Uilliams wore the red of Lajong in the I-League last season scoring seven goals for the club. The club will also retain the services of Trinidad striker Cornell Glen, who scored 14 goals last season in the I-League, Lajong said in a statement.

"I am very excited about the prospects of the Uilliams, Minchol, Penn and Glen joining a strong Lajong contingent to help the team do better than last season. We hope they live up to the expectations of the club and fans and wish them all the very best this year," says Lajong general secretary Larsing M. Sawyan.

Shillong Lajong FC will play its first match of the new I-League season at home against local rivals, Royal Wahingdoh FC Jan 18.
