A teenaged rape victim was Thursday admitted to the civil hospital in Punjab's industrial town of Ludhiana with nearly 75 percent burn injuries after her alleged rapists set her on fire, police said.

The 17-year-old girl was in a critical condition, doctors told police.

Two of the accused were later arrested. All the accused are from Bihar, police said.

Officials said the girl had earlier accused three youths of raping her. They were arrested and were facing trial.

The youths came out on bail recently and reached the girl's house along with three other friends. They poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
