"Security preparations for the match have been made well ahead and adequate security cover will be thrown around both the stadium as well as the team hotel. Strict vigil will be kept from strategically located watch towers and through intense patrolling," said Joint Commissioner of Police Jawed Shamim.

With President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also slated to be in the city Thursday, checkposts have been put up at important places in the city.

"Several important roads leading to the Eden Gardens during the match day may remain clogged for security purposes, so spectators are requested to come early for the game," added Shamim.

High Radio Flying Squad (HRFS) of Kolkata Police and crack commando units would be on duty around the stadium during the match. Adequate security ring has also been thrown around the team hotel, officials said.
